Looking forward to the 2014 season!

2013 Historic Summit Inn Season Recap

Our 2013 season is coming to a close! We had such an amazing season filled with visits from our favorite returning guests, some great new friends, beautiful weddings and stunning sunsets from the Veranda! The Historic Summit Inn’s season started with a nostalgic goodbye to our Olympic size steel swimming pool. We worked on the new pool all season and were disappointed that due to unforeseen weather and a couple other complications we weren’t able to open the new pool in 2013. However, we are very excited to finish the new outdoor pool and pool house next season!

One of the highlights of the 2013 season was when we were honored with some amazing community choice awards for best Wedding Venue and Most Romantic Restaurant. We will work hard to earn our neighbors votes again next year! Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need a venue or awesome establishment to celebrate your special day, party or reunion.

During the last few weeks of October we hosted the “Treehouse Master” Pete Nelson, and his crew while they built an amazing Treehouse to add a unique new venue to our property. Look for the release of this new episode of Treehouse Masters to air on Animal Planet sometime in early January. We will keep you updated here and on facebook for future announcements on when this special episode of Treehouse Masters will air. If you want a sneak peak, take a look at this small post.

Thanks again to all of our guests and amazing staff for an incredible 2013 season! See you again in April, 2014 🙂

Our family and friends love your Mothers Day buffet. We have been to every Mothers Day buffet that you have had since it started. Why don’t you have an Easter Buffet ? Or how about a Fathers Day Buffett ?
I’m sure both would be well attended.

We had an event at the tree house with 10 people. The food was top shelf and everyone had such a great, enjoyable evening in that setting. Ray and the staff were great and went out of their way to accommodate us! We have had other events at the Summit and pleased with each one but the tree house experience was really special. We would recommend it to anyone for a small special event. Thanks to everyone at the Summit for making the evening special.

Just saw Treehouse Masters (which I love) and saw your awesome Inn. I live in the Mountains of North Carolina where we have a lot of black bears also.

We love taking trips to Lancaster PA in the fall, and thinking about heading west to Farmington. Hope to be in contact with you later on. Best wishes … Phyllis Osborn

We’re so happy you are interested in the Treehouse! We have had such a positive response from our guests! We are offering free tours of the treehouse every day after we open on April 25th. At this moment we are keeping the treehouse available for tours daily to accommodate as many guests as possible.

My husband would like to know if a visit to the Summit Inn would be a good place to be able to photograph the Black Bears? He loves photographing wildlife and and is looking for a good place to possibly be able to get a photograph of a black bear in the wild.

The bears are very unpredictable and stay away from humans for the most part. We have seen many on hidden cameras but don’t tend to see them in person.

Hi Excellent Summit Inn Tenacious & Dedicated Owners & Excellent Chef & Staff Team:

I had my 2014 (delayed) Valentines’ Day Present visit from my dear spouse Ellie this past Sun-Mon April 27-28, 2014. As we have experienced over the past decade or so, the Summit Inn is a Jewel of a destination in SW PA. We have spent many weekends over time with dear friends & family at your Excellent ‘Inn’; have enjoyed many 1st Class 5 Star meals (Much better Quality, Presentation, Price, and Excellent Staff Attentiveness to Guests than the present available fare in Pittsburgh, London, Washington DC, Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, and many other major national / international metro cities). Your Crab Cakes ‘Kicked Butt’ – Excellent!!!, and are much better than those served from any other venue in my pallet experience from Boston – Baltimore – Pittsburgh (The Original Oyster House in Market Square).

You should be Very Proud of your Customer Service Accomplishments. We hope that your present and future revenue $ flow is sufficient to sustain, support, and enhance all of your team / family efforts into the future to keep the Historic Summit Inn a viable SW-PA destination venue!!!

What Ellie & Don Really Love about the Summit Inn, is the Staff”s Care to Detail, and accommodating their guests’ needs / requests. What we also love about the Summit Inn is the opportunity to ‘step back in time’ to a more slow paced & relaxing, non commercial & Historic environment, that the corporate chain hotels can never match.

We had an excellent hour long relaxing swim / physical therapy exercise session in your indoor heated pool; had 5 star dinner and breakfast meals in your restaurant; Enjoyed sitting and relaxing in front of the 100+ year old warm and Grand Stone Fireplaces in your beautifully Frank Lloyd Wright – Mission style furnished & lighted Lobby and Dining Room areas. We both enjoyed quiet reading, playing cards, and enjoying each others’ company in a serene & comfortable historic venue.

We also noted that the Summit Inn has combined the best of the past with the best of the present & future. You have 21st century Wireless Internet, Cable TV, all en-suite ‘loo-bathrooms’, etc.

We enjoyed visiting your new tree-house addition (that we watched the tree-house master construction on animal planet).

We are Very Happy that you have committed (my guess ~$3/4 M to $1 M) into the new outside heated pool & Hot Tub replacement project. We are looking forward to spending time at the Summit Inn in the future to enjoy these new accommodations, and being pampered by all of your Excellent Staff Team Family!!! You folks are the greatest!!!

Sincerely, Don Martello & Ellie Sero

Me, my husband, and our 7 year old granddaughter Remmie, are big fans of Treehouse Masters, never missing and episode. We watched with great interest as the treehouse was built at the Summit Inn, knowing that we pass by there every time we head up to our cabin. Imagine the look on my granddaughter’s face when she got to see it for herself! What a great treehouse! Needless to say, my husband has been given an order for a treehouse in our back yard!! We hope for another build there and look forward to touring it!

Me, my husband Mike, and my seven year old granddaughter Remmie are great fans of Treehouse Masters, never missing an episode. We watched with excitement as the tree house was built at the Summit Inn, knowing we pass by there every time we head up to our cabin. On the way home from our cabin this weekend, we stopped to see if we could take a look, and by chance they were just beginning a tour. Imagine the look on my granddaughers face when she got to see it for herself! Simply beautiful! Love the bear cam and the view is amazing. Needless to say, my husband is now instructed to build a tree house in our back yard! We are hoping for another build at the Summit and another tour!

I was to turn 70 this May and asked to go see Fallingwaters for my bday present. My husband was watching a rerun of the building of your tree house and decided to put the Summit Inn on the list for my birthday. Sadly he got sick and we had to cancel but have since rescheduled and I’m looking forward to our visit and my belated bday present Wednesday! From all the enthusiastic comments I’m sure this will be a birthday present to remember!
